Want to Install TWRP Recovery and Root OnePlus 5? Then here is the good news for you. OnePlus 5 Root is available thanks to the TWRP Recovery. It is the first thing to install on your device to achieve Root access. Just follow the steps listed below to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 5 and then Root the device.
Before you proceed to the actual process of installing TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 5, you need to follow some the pre-requisites to assure everything is prepared and the process will be smooth.
Pre-Requisites:
- Backup your important data.
- Enable USB Debugging on OnePlus 5 from Settings > Developer Options. Developer Options can be enabled by tapping on Build Number for about 7-10 from Settings > About Phone.
- Make sure OP5 is charged to at least 75%.
- Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 5.
- Install OnePlus 5 USB Drivers on PC and also install ADB and Fastboot drivers.

How to Install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 5:
Step 1: Download the TWRP Recovery for OnePlus 5 from the above downloads section.
Step 2: Rename the file to twrp.img and copy it inside the Fastboot folder.

How to Root OnePlus 5:
Now that TWRP Recovery is installed, you can flash the SuperSU.zip package to gain Root Access on OnePlus 5.
Step 1: Download the SuperSU.zip package from the above downloads section.
Step 2: Transfer the SuperSU package to your device.
Step 3: Boot OnePlus 5 into Recovery Mode by turning it off and pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together.
Step 4: Once the device boots into TWRP Recovery, tap on Wipe -> Format Data -> Yes.
Step 5: Now go back and tap on Install -> select SuperSU.zip -> Swipe to Install.
Step 6: Once installed, Tap on Reboot.
Step 7: After reboot check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
