How to Install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge:
Step 1: Run Odin on PC as administrator.
Step 2: Boot Galaxy S7/ Edge to Download Mode. How?
- Power off the device.
- Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously together until the device boots up and shows Download Mode.
- Now press Volume Up to confirm the device to boot into Download Mode.
Step 3: Connect the device to PC using OEM USB Cable and make sure it is detected by Odin Software.
Step 4: Click on AP/ PDA and choose the TWRP Recovery image which is in .img.tar format.
Step 5: Make sure only F.Reset Time option is the only one checked and remaining all other options are un-checked and hit Start button and wait for Odin to flash TWRP Recovery on Galaxy S7/ Edge.
Step 6: Once done, disconnect the device from PC and Boot it into Recovery Mode.
- Power off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously together until you See Samsung Logo.
Step 7: TWRP should ask whether we want to allow modifications or not, just swipe finger to the right to enable modifications. Swiping the finger to right will trigger dm-verify, and it should be disabled immediately. Leaving it enabled will not let the device boot and neither root it. This is an important stuff since we want to be able to modify the system.
Step 8: Tap on Wipe > Format Data and follow the instructions to wipe all the data. It is important to disable encryption. It erases all the data from the device, so make sure to take a backup.
Step 9: Now Tap on Reboot and then Recovery.
Step 10: Tap on Install and locate SuperSU.zip file which you have copied and install it.
Step 11: Once again tap on Install and this time locate DM-Verify.zip and flash it.
Step 12: Reboot phone into normal mode.
After reboot make sure to check Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
