How to Reset A Samsung TV

Do you own a Samsung Smart TV and are experiencing issues with your TV, like it suddenly stops working or can't be turned on at all? If so, you can try to reset your Samsung TV, which will return it to its factory settings.

A reset can sometimes be the quickest and easiest way to solve a problem unless your TV has been physically damaged or due to component failures. In this guide, we will walk you through on how to rest your Samsung TV.

Perform a Soft Reset on Your Samsung TV

Soft Reset is a process in which data is not erased, and the menu settings are automatically restored. There are two ways to perform a soft reset they are:

Soft Reset on your Samsung TV

To perform a Soft Reset on your Samsung TV, follow these steps:

  • Power off your Smart TV.
  • Disconnect the plug from the outlet.
  • Wait for about a minute.
  • Reconnect the plug.
  • Press the power button on your TV.

Soft Reset on your Samsung TV using Remote

To perform a Soft Reset on your Samsung TV using a remote, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your Samsung TV is turned on.
  • Take your TV remote, and hold the Power button until you see the Samsung logo flash onscreen.
  • Observe the LED indicator on the front of the TV. It will turn red and start blinking faster.
  • After a few seconds, your TV should restart.

Once it turns back on, check if the issues you were experiencing have been resolved. If the problem has not been resolved, proceed with the other methods below.

Note: Don't touch the plug with wet hands. There is a risk of accidents, including electric shock.

Factory Reset your Samsung TV

Factory Resetting your TV will erase all data on your smart TV and restore the settings to defaults from when the product was initially purchased.

This means any Samsung accounts and all downloaded apps will be deleted. Therefore, please ensure you have noted down your router's name and password in advance. For your reference, most Samsung TVs have a default PIN of 0000.

To perform a Factory Reset on your Samsung TV, follow these steps:

  • Turn on your TV and press the Home button on the remote.
  • Go to Settings Menu.
  • Select "General" and then choose "Reset".
  • On the PIN screen, enter the 4-digit PIN code. If you did not change it after purchasing your TV, then the default PIN should still be 0000.
  • When the TV reboot pop-up screen appears, select "Yes" to confirm.
  • The reset process will begin, and the TV will automatically turn off once completed.
  • Turn the TV back on and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the initial setup process. You should now be able to use the TV again.

Note: Settings will vary depending on location or where the product was purchased.

Request remote support to Reset Your Samsung TV

If the above methods do not help solve the issues, a service center can access your TV remotely and reset it for you. Resetting your TV in this way will erase all data and restore settings to their factory settings. We also recommend you note the router's name and password before you reset your device.

To request remote support on your Samsung TV, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your Samsung TV has internet access to make this feature work.
  • Now, Press the Home button on the remote and navigate to Settings Menu.
  • Select "Support" and then choose "Remote Management".
  • Now, Please follow the instructions on the screen.
