With Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, Samsung has ditched the Home button. So, the old method to boot Samsung Galaxy devices into Recovery Mode and Download Mode won’t work. So in this tutorial, we are going to show you how to boot Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus into Recovery Mode and Download Mode. The Recovery Mode helps the device users to factory hard reset, wipe cache, adb sideload OTA updates etc. and the Download Mode allows to flash the firmware files with the help of Odin Flash Tool.

Below is a simple guide on how to boot Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus into Recovery and Download Mode.

How to boot into Samsung Galaxy S8 Download Mode and Recovery Mode:

Method 1: Hardware Method

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Recovery Mode:

Step 1: Power off your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus.

Step 2: Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons together until you see something on the screen. Let go the power button but keep pressing the Volume Up button until you see Recovery Mode.

That’s it now you should have booted your Galaxy S8 Plus and S8 into Recovery Mode. In Recovery Mode use the Volume keys to highlight the options and power button to select it.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Download Mode:

Step 1: Power off your device.

Step 2: Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together until you see something on the screen.

Step 3: Now, you should see a warning message. Press the Volume down button to continue boot into Download Mode.

Method 2: Software Method.

Bootloader Mode/ Fastboot Mode

Step 1: Download and install Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.

Step 2: Also install ADB and Fastboot Drivers.

Step 3: Connect your device to PC, while it is power on.

Step 4: Open Command Prompt on your PC and enter the below command to boot Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus into Bootloader Mode.

adb reboot bootloader

Recovery Mode

Step 1: Assuming you have Samsung USB Drivers and ADB & Fastboot Drivers installed on your PC.

Step 2: Connect your device to PC.

Step 3: Open Command Prompt and enter the below command.

adb reboot recovery
