This tutorial shows how to manually update Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop 23.4.A.0.546 firmware – Complete guide
Sony has started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware to its high-end smartphones. The update is being rolled out with 23.4.A.0.546 as build number and it is available via OTA (Over-The-Air). So pick up your Xperia Z3 Compact or Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update and check for software update. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is live in Baltics and Middle East for generic firmware and also for Nordics carriers. As it is rolled out via OTA, it might take some time for the update to reach your device.

Update Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop 23.4.A.0.546:
Step 1: Download the Sony Flash Tool and required firmware file for your device from the above links.
Step 2: Install the Sony Flash Tool on PC and run it as administrator.
Step 3: If it asks you to move files stored in C:Flashtoolfirmwares to C:UsersPC Name.flashtoolfirmwares, then do it as it says.
Step 4: Copy the FTF firmware file to C:UsersPC Name.flashtoolfirmwares directory.
Step 5: Hit the "Black Thunder Lightning" icon at the top left corner.
Step 6: Choose Flashmode and hit Ok.
Step 7: Now you will see the firmware files which you are willing to flash on left side and on the right you will have Wipe, Exclude and Misc options.
Step 8: If you wish to wipe all of your data, then check APPSLOG, CACHE and DATA under Wipe section. It is always recommended to start from fresh and hence wiping is recommended.
Note: Wiping the data will factory reset your device, if you don’t want to factory reset your data then uncheck all the options under Wipe.
Step 9: Click on Flash button, this will prepare the firmware files for flashing.
Step 10: Once the Flash Tool is done with preparing the firmware files, it will show popup asking you to connect your device in Flashmode.
Step 11: Power off your Xperia Z3 Compact or Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and connect one end of USB to PC and hold the Volume Down button and connect the other end of USB cable to your device.
Step 12: Once the device is connected to PC in Flashmode, Flash Tool will flash the firmware files. Make sure not to release the Volume Down until the whole flashing process is done.
Step 13: Once the flashing is done, release the Volume Down and disconnect your device from PC and reboot your device.
