Official TWRP 3.1.1 Custom Recovery is now available for Galaxy S8 Plus. This opens the routes to the development for Galaxy S8 Plus. Soon, we may see many Custom ROM’s, Tweaks and mods etc., available for Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus. With the help of TWRP Recovery, we can also Root Galaxy S8 Plus. And this tutorial shows how to install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy S8 Plus Smartphone.
This tutorial is applicable to only Exynos variants of Galaxy S8 Plus and should not be followed on other variants of the device. Rooting Galaxy S8 Plus involves flashing TWRP Recovery and then installing Magisk. It quite simple process and have no damage on the device if followed properly. So, follow the below steps properly to install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy S8 Plus.
Preparations:
- Backup all of your important data to a safe place.
- Enable USB Debugging on your device from Settings > Developer Options. If the developer options are missing, follow the instructions listed here to enable Developer Options.
- Enable OEM Unlock from Settings > Developer Options.
- Ensure that your device is charged at least 65-75%.

How to install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy S8 Plus:
Step 1: Extract the Odin Flash Tool and run it as administrator.
Step 2: Copy the downloaded Galaxy S8 Plus TWRP .tar file inside the Odin folder.
Step 3: Power off Galaxy S8 Plus and boot into Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Bixby + Power buttons simultaneously together for few seconds. Now press the Volume Up button to continue boot into Download Mode.
Step 4: Connect the device to PC while it is in Download Mode. It should be detected by Odin Software on PC and a message saying Added! Should show up in the message box on Odin.
Step 5: Click on AP or PDA and select the TWRP .tar file which you have copied in Step 2.
Step 6: Under Options Tab make sure only F.Reset Time is checked and remaining all the options are unchecked.
Step 7: Tap on Start to begin the flashing process. Once it is done, you should see PASS! Message in Odin.
Step 8: Disconnect your device and Boot into TWRP Recovery by powering off Galaxy S8 Plus and pressing and holding Volume Up, Bixby and Power button together for few seconds.
Step 9: From TWRP, tap on Install and navigate to the folder /twres/flashables/ and you should see two files as shown below.
Step 10: To disable encryption/dm-crypt, just flash “no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip”. It will disable dm-crypt and make /data encryption optional. Then you can go to Wipe menu to wipe your /data partition to finally disable encryption.
Step 11: To Root, simply flash the “Magisk-v12.0-arm64.zip” (About Magisk). It will install Magisk on your phone.
Step 12: When installed, tap on Reboot system and check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
