OnePlus recently launched a new Smartphone name OnePlus 3T which is the successor to the flagship killer OnePlus 3. It has been just a few days and TWRP Custom Recovery for the device is out and available for download. In this tutorial, we are going to install TWRP Recovery and Root OnePlus 3T Smartphone by following the complete and step by step instructions listed below. The first part of the tutorial involves installing TWRP Recovery and the second part involves Rooting it with the help of SuperSU package.
Before we proceed to the actual installation and rooting instructions we must follow some steps to prepare OnePlus 3T and other things for smooth flow of the process.
- Firstly backup all of your important data to a safe place.
- Enable USB Debugging from Settings -> Developer Options.
- Ensure that OnePlus 3T is not running out of battery juice. Charge it to at least 75% before you proceed.
- Install OnePlus 3T USB Drivers on PC.
- Install ADB and Fastboot drivers on PC.
- Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 3T.

How to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 3T:
Step 1: Download TWRP Recovery from the above downloads section.
Step 2: Rename it to twrp.img
Step 3: Copy it inside the Fastboot folder.
Step 4: Follow the instructions on how to install TWRP on Android via Fastboot here.
That’s it now TWRP Recovery is successfully installed on OnePlus 3T.
How to Root OnePlus 3T using SuperSU:
Step 1: Download SuperSU zip package from the above downloads section.
Step 2: Transfer it to your device via USB Cable or Bluetooth.
Step 3: Power off OnePlus 3T and Boot into TWRP Recovery.
Step 4: Follow the instruction on how to install SuperSU via TWRP Recovery here.
Step 5: Reboot and Check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
