In this tutorial checkout how to install TWRP Recovery and Root HTC 10
HTC 10 is the company’s latest Android Smartphone and it comes with beautiful design and metal body. The device packs some high-end specs like 4GB RAM, 12MP camera, Snapdragon 820 processor etc. Earlier we have shared a tutorial on how to unlock bootloader on HTC 10 and in this tutorial we are going to guide you on how to install TWRP Recovery and Root HTC 10 Smartphone.
In order to install TWRP Recovery on HTC 10, you must have unlocked bootloader. So checkout this tutorial and unlock bootloader on HTC 10 and then follow this tutorial to install TWRP Recovery and Root HTC 10.
Preparations:
- Backup all the important data to safe place – SMS | Contacts | Call Logs etc.
- Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
- Charge HTC 10 to at least 75%, before proceeding.
- Install HTC 10 USB Drivers on PC.
- Setup ADB and Fastboot drivers on PC – Windows | MAC.
- Unlock Bootloader on HTC 10.

How to install TWRP Recovery on HTC 10:
Step 1: Download the TWRP Recovery from the above downloads section and rename it to recovery.img
Step 2: Copy recovery.img to the Fastboot folder and press and hold the shift key and right click inside the folder at the empty space and choose open command window here.
Step 3: Power off HTC 10 and boot into HTC Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons together until you see HTC Logo.
Step 4: Once you are in HTC Download Mode, Connect the device to PC and issue the following commands through CMD:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
This command flashes the TWRP Recovery on HTC 10.
fastboot reboot
This command reboots HTC 10 into normal mode.
With this the installation of TWRP Recovery on HTC 10 is done. Now it’s time to Root HTC 10.
How to Root HTC 10:
Step 1: Download the SuperSU.zip package from eh above downloads section.
Step 2: Copy the package to the root of your internal storage, but not inside any folder.
Step 3: Now Power off HTC 10 and press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together until you see HTC logo, this should boot your device into HTC Download Mode, now choose reboot to bootloader using Volume keys and select using Power button.
Step 4: Once the device boots into Bootloader Mode choose boot to recovery mode to boot into TWRP Recovery.
Step 5: From TWRP Recovery flash the SuperSU.zip package which you have copied earlier. Don’t know how to install SuperSU.zip follow the instructions here.
Step 6: Reboot the device and check for the Root permissions using Root Checker App.
