This tutorial shows how to update Xperia Z to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware using Tesla Lollipop ROM.
Sony has announced that Xperia Z will receive the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update at the end of July and those who can’t wait to try out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Xperia Z, here is the Tesla Custom ROM which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware and brings additional features like Customisable QS Tiles and Animation Control. This ROM is very stable and runs fast and smoothly on Xperia Z. This is not the official release from Sony, so to install this ROM you must have rooted device with Clockwork Mod Recovery installed.

- Unlock the Bootloader on Xperia Z.

How to update Xperia Z to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop via Tesla ROM:
Step 1: Download the ROM package from the above links.
Step 2: Copy it to your device’s internal or external storage. Make sure not to copy the ROM package inside any folder, just copy it at the root of device’s storage.
Step 3: Power off Xperia Z and Boot into Recovery Mode.
- Power on your device.
- Wait for the LED notification to blink.
- As soon as the LED blinks start pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down key several times.
Step 4: Once you are in the Recovery Mode, wipe all of your cache and data.
Step 5: Follow the instructions listed here and flash the Tesla ROM package.
Step 6: Reboot Xperia Z and enjoy the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Note: The first boot may take some time, so please be patience and with for your device to boot up successfully. If your device gets into Bootloop sequence, the reboot into Recovery Mode and wipe cache and data.
