OnePlus 5 is the company’s first flagship smartphone with Dual Rear camera setup and it is also the device with the higher memory of 8GB RAM. There is also a lower variant of OnePlus 5 with 6GB of RAM. Both the 6GB and 8GB RAM variants rock the powerful Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45 GHz. This makes the device a flagship killer.

- It is recommended to take a complete backup of your data to a safe place as unlocking bootloader wipes your data and settings. Backup your important data.
- Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock from Settings > Developer Options. If Developer Options is missing, go to Settings > About Phone and tap on Build Number for about 7-10 times.
- Make sure your OP5 is left with at least 75% charge before you proceed.
- Install OnePlus 5 USB Drivers on your PC.
- Install ADB and Fastboot Drivers on PC. Install them System-wide using 15 seconds ADB installer.
How to Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 5:
Step 1: Power off OnePlus 5 and boot into Fastboot Mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Power buttons together for few seconds.
Step 2: Connect your device to PC using OEM USB Data cable.
Step 3: Open Command Prompt on your PC.
Step 4: Now type in the below command to see if your OP5 is properly connected to PC.
It should show some serial number. If it doesn’t then your device is not connected properly. Try reinstalling OnePlus 5 USB Drivers or change Port.
Step 5: Enter the below command to unlock the bootloader on OP5.
fastboot oem unlock
A warning screen might pop up on your device. Use the volume keys to highlight the ‘Yes’ option and power button to select it.
Step 6: Now the unlock process should start and wait for it to complete. Your device might reboot automatically. If it doesn’t then enter the below command.
With this, you are done unlocking Bootloader on OnePlus 5 OxygenOS Phone. Now it’s time to Root and install TWRP Recovery on your device.
