Earlier the Sony Xperia Z1 users were able to update the device to latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and now the Xperia Z users can also update to AOSP Lollipop 5.0 OS to taste the latest firmware. There is around 2 more odd months for official Lollipop 5.0 update, but no need to wait so longer, just follow the below easy procedure to install the latest OS.

- Boot loader of your Sony Xperia Z1 should be unlocked.
- Make sure your device has battery level of more than 50% and also enable USB Debugging from settings.
- Download the latest USB drivers for Xperia Z. Click here to download. Also make sure that the ADB is installed in your computer.

How to Upgrade Sony Xperia Z with Android 5.0 Lollipop Firmware:
Step 2: Extract the downloaded adb and fastboot files on your PC to place all the above-downloaded files in the adb and fastboot folder.
Step 3: After done with the above step, enter the device into fastboot mode. To enter into fastboot mode, turn off your Xperia Z and Press the Volume Up button and connect the phone to the computer with the standard USB cable by holding the Volume Up button.
Step 4: The LED light on the device will turns into blue stating that the device has been successfully entered into fastboot mode.
Step 5: Navigate to the path where all fastboot files are placed in the computer and press “Shift + Right Click” to select the “Open Command prompt window”
Step 6: In the Command prompt window, enter the below following commands.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
Step 7: After completion of all the files being flashed, reboot the device using the below-mentioned command.
Note: The device would take around 4-5 minutes to apply the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware and also to get ready/ initialize the apps.
