In this tutorial checkout how to install TWRP Recovery and Root OnePlus 3 Android Smartphone
OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has recently launched its fourth Android Smartphone and the device is exclusively available on Amazon with a price tag of Rs. 27,999 (US$ 400). Earlier we have shared a tutorial on how to unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 3 and in this tutorial we are going to lists steps on how to install TWRP Recovery and Root OnePlus 3 Android Smartphone.
It has not been a week that OnePlus 3 was globally launched and the developers already released TWRP Custom Recovery and SuperSU.zip package to Root the device. So, let’s all thank them for providing the TWRP Recovery, without which rooting OnePlus 3 would not be possible.
- Make a backup of all the data and files on the device to safe place.

Backup files stored on internal storage to PC
- Enable USB Debugging on OnePlus 3 from Settings > Developer Options. Developer Options missing on your device? Follow the instructions listed here to enable it.
- Battery should be above 65%.
- Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 3.
- Install OnePlus 3 UBS Drivers on PC.
- Setup ADB and Fastboot drivers on PC.

How to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 3:
Step 1: Download TWRP Recovery for OnePlus 3 from here.
Step 2: Rename it to recovery.img and copy it inside the Fastboot folder.
Step 3: Open the Fastboot folder and press and hold the Shift key and Right click inside the folder at the empty space and choose Open command window here.
Step 4: Connect OnePlus 3 to PC.
Step 5: Enter the below commands in CMD to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 3.
adb reboot bootloader
This command boots OnePlus 3 into Fastboot Mode/ Bootloader Mode. Alternatively you can power off OnePlus 3 and press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons together to boot it into Fastboot Mode.
Once the device is in Fastboot Mode, enter the below command to flash TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 3.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now enter the below command to boot the device into normal mode.
That’s it now you have successfully installed TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 3. Now it’s time to Root OnePlus 3.
How to Root OnePlus 3:
Step 2: Copy it on your device’s internal storage.
Step 3: Boot OnePlus 3 into Recovery Mode by powering it off and pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together.
Step 4: Follow the instructions listed here and install SuperSU.zip package on OnePlus 3.
Step 5: Reboot the device and check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
Voila! OnePlus 3 is now rooted and have TWRP Recovery installed.
