Before the actual part of the rooting and installation of Custom Recovery i.e., TWRP Recovery begins, we must prepare OnePlus 2, to avoid mishaps and damages to the device.
- It is highly recommended to take a complete backup of your data and settings.

Backup files on internal storage to PC
- Charge OnePlus 2 to at least 80% as we don’t want the phone dying in the middle of the process.
- Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options on OnePlus 2.
- Ensure all the necessary OnePlus 2 USB Drivers are installed on PC.
- Also ensure that ADB and Fastboot drivers are installed on PC. It is recommended to choose System wide option while installing the ADB and Fastboot drivers.
- Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 2.

How to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 2:
Step 1: Download the TWRP Recovery image and make sure it is in .img format. If not? Extract it using software’s like Winrar and 7zip.
Step 2: Copy it to a folder and rename it to twrp.img. Now while the folder is open press and hold the shift key and right click inside the folder at the empty space and choose open command window here.
Step 3: Boot OnePlus 2 into Fastboot Mode and connect it to PC.
Step 4: Now in Command Prompt enter the following commands and hit enter after each commad:
This command shows list of devices connected to PC in Fastboot Mode. This is to ensure that the device is connected to PC properly.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
This command flashes twrp.img file to OnePlus 2 and in general it flashes the TWRP Recovery image.
Step 5: That’s it now boot your device into recovery mode and confirm the installation.
How to Root OnePlus 2:
Step 1: Download the SuperSU.zip package from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to your device’s internal storage.
Step 3: Boot OnePlus 2 into Recovery Mode.
Step 4: Follow the guide here and install the SuperSU.zip file which you have copied.
Step 5: Reboot OnePlus 2 and check for root permissions using Root Checker App.
