To install CWM Recovery on Redmi 1S we must root it, so let’s first proceed to Root Redmi 1S and then to the installation of CWM Recovery.
How to Root Redmi 1S:
Step 1: Download the Rooting package from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to your device’s internal storage. Make sure you have copied at the root of your internal storage but not inside any folder.
Step 3: Open Tools > Updater > hit menu button > Select Update Package and choose the update.zip (Rooting Package), which you have copied earlier.
Step 4: Follow the on screen the instructions and reboot your device.
Step 5: After reboot, open Security > Permissions > Enable Root Permissions. Now check for Root permission using Root Checker App.
How to Unroot Redmi 1S:
Step 1: Download the un-root package from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to your device’s internal storage and make sure to copy at the root, but not inside any folder.
Step 3: Go to Security > Permissions > Disable Root Permissions.
Step 4: Now go to Tools > Updater > hit menu button > Select Update Package > Choose un-root package.
Step 5: Follow the on screen instructions and reboot your device. Now check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
How to CWM Recovery on Redmi 1S:
Step 1: Download the CWM Recovery Package from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to your Internal Storage and make sure outside but not inside any folder.
Step 3: Rename the file to update.zip
Step 4: Go to Tools > updater > hit menu > Reboot Recovery Mode.
Step 5: Now once you are in Recovery Mode, choose English as the language using Volume keys and select it using power button.
Step 6: Select Install update.zip to System and confirm install.
Step 7: Once installed reboot your device to normal mode. Check the installation by booting your device to Recovery Mode.
