As the Android 5.1 Lollipop Factory images were released by Google recently, many people might have updated their device. If you are one of them and after updating if you are looking to install CWM Recovery and Root Nexus 10 then this guide might help you.
Rooting and installing Custom Recovery on Android is a very complicated process if you are newbie. So it has to be done carefully because a single mistake can brick your device and for that reason we have compiled some of the pre-requisites to make your task easier.
- Make sure your device is Nexus 10, codenamed – “mantaray “.
- Backup your data to a safe place.

Backup files stored on internal storage to PC
- Charge your device to at least 75%.
- Enable USB Debugging on Nexus 10.
- Install USB Drivers suitable for Nexus 10.
- Install ADB and Fastboot Drivers on PC.
- Unlock Bootloader on Nexus 10.

How to install CWM Recovery on Nexus 10:
Step 1: Download the CWM Recovery from here.
Step 2: Copy it to Fastboot folder.
Step 3: Power off Nexus 10 and Enter into Fastboot / Bootloader Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously.
Step 4: Connect Nexus 10 to PC.
Step 5: Open the Fastboot folder and press and hold the Shift Key and right click inside the Fastboot folder at the empty space and choose open command window here.
Step 6: Now in CMD type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-188.8.131.52-manta.img
Step 7: This will install CWM Recovery on Nexus 10.
Now that you have installed CWM Recovery on Nexus 10, you can proceed to Root Nexus 10.
How to Root Nexus 10 on Android 5.1 Lollipop:
Step 1: Download the Rooting Package from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to the Root of your device’s internal or external storage.
Step 3: Power off Nexus 10 and Boot into Recovery Mode.
- Turn on Nexus 10 by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously.
- Now choose RECOVERY from Fastboot menu.
Step 4: Once you are in Recovery Mode, flash the rooting package. How? Follow here.
Step 5: Once done, Reboot your device and check for Root Permissions using Root Checker App.
